MZP protesters clash with police during MPSC agitation in Aizawl

A clash broke out between police and members of the Mezo Zirlay Pol or MZP along with job experience and other protesters in Aizawl on August 10. The incident captured on camera took place when MZP members and protesters attempted to enter the office of the Mizoram Public Service Commission or MPSC as part of their ongoing agitation demanding reforms in the commission's recruitment process. Police stopped the protesters from entering the MPSC office leading to a confrontation between the two sides. MPSC chairman and other officials trying to forcefully enter the MPSC I don't know what they are trying to do. And they have used police forces. So I think this is very much a concern for us Even after two days of peaceful protest and today our protest is just picketing and then when they are using police forces as well as officials are trying to enter the office. The MZP resumed its agitation on Monday after suspending its protest on August 6 at 2 pm. The organization has said it will continue the agitation until its demands concerning the MPSC are addressed. The MZP has been demanding changes to the MPSC's one-time registration or OTR system, which it says has created difficulties for candidates appearing for recruitment examinations. The organization has demanded that the OTR system be discontinued and replaced with a need-based application system. It has also sought an opportunity for candidates whose applications were rejected because of incomplete document uploads through the OTR system to submit the required documents offline. Many of the aspirants have been disqualified because of the OTR form and we have met MPSC officials many times and we have given a last warning and then it has not been developed yet and many students and aspirants have been dropped off because of the OTR and we demanded MPSC should be reformed and completely scrapped the OTR as UPSC has already scrapped the OTR and developed a new firm. And as we also compared to other OTR with other notice public service commission in different state, our firm is very much of course not developed yet which is a problem that many of the aspirants have faced. So you were planning to hold the protest on August 6th and 7th, why has it Well, we have submitted our demand to the chairman of MPSC as well as the DPNER minister and we haven't received any communication, positive communication from them and then we have started picketing from today How long will it go on Well I cannot say depending on how the negotiation has been going on We do hope that MPSC as well as the government have taken up the matter seriously and we do hope that we have come up with a very positive solution on this. The MZP cited a recruitment examination in which 103 candidates were included in the valid list. Of these, 74 appeared for the written examination, but 70 were subsequently dropped over incomplete document uploads, leaving only four candidates for the interview stage.
