Prime Minister Narendra Modi is upset about abuse but does not take action against Ramesh Bidhuri, a BJP MP who abused another MP in 2023.
“For dealing with such cases, we have the Privileges Committee.”From the report
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is very upset about the abuse these days. Some naughty kids have abused the poor. But does he ever think about this guy from his party? Mr. Dhanushal, please sit down. Take your seat. Take your seat. Mr. Bidhuri. Since Ramesh Bidhuri was an MP when he did this, no one can prosecute him for it other than Parliament itself. For dealing with such cases, we have the Privileges Committee. It is made up of 15 MPs who investigate complaints against their colleagues colleagues and recommend punishment when needed. Kuwar Danish Ali, the MP who had faced Biduri's hateful abuse in 2023, filed a complaint before this very committee. But there is no official record of what the committee did in his case. Parliament's website has reports for other cases that this committee took up around that time. When I called Sunil Kumar Singh, the BJP MP who used to chair the privileges committee then, this is what he said. Just so you know, this is what the committee looked like in 2023. The BJP also never punished Bidhuri. On the contrary, it fielded him in the Delhi Assembly elections last year. This week, Bidhuri was in the news again for, surprise surprise, communal dog-whistling. So has the Prime Minister forgiven him too?
