Petrol bomb attack on Meghalaya Pollution Control Board office, CCTV captures masked assailants

Three masked men carried out a petrol bomb attack at the premises of the Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board at Lumpangat area in Shillong on August 3. The incident took place at around 12.32 pm. CCTV footage accessed by East Mojo shows two masked men entering the boards from ISIS before one of them hurled a petrol bomb while a third accomplice remained outside the gate during the attack. The entire incident lasted less than two minutes. After throwing the petrol bomb, the three men fled the area before anyone present could react. No injuries have been reported so far. The extent of damage caused by the explosion is yet to be officially confirmed. Authorities have launched an investigation and are examining CCTV footage to identify the attackers and determine the motive behind the attack. The incident comes three days after a public hearing conducted by the Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board in connection with the proposed Shree Cement project. The hearing had drawn protests and witnessed disruptions, reflecting opposition from sections of local residents and organizations over the proposed limestone mining project. However, authorities have not indicated any link between Monday's petrol bomb attack and the recent public hearing.
